Details:

Family in Livingston is looking for a live-in nanny for their four-year-old and six-year-old children.  Specific hours are extremely flexible (can be full or part-time), but days are Monday through Friday starting at 9:00 - 9:30 am. The end time will be anywhere from 12:00 pm-7:30 pm, depending on Nanny’s availability. Ideal start date is end of January 2021, but this is also flexible. Family’s primary focus is finding the right fit in a caregiver.

Duties will include:

All duties will be related to the care and safety of children: homeschooling, preparing meals for the children, basic tidying up after children, and maintaining a very hygienic environment.

Ideal caregiver:

Ideal nanny will not only be safety-conscious but will enjoy energetic, imaginative play. She will play chess with them, paint and draw with them, and chase them around the basement or yard. Also, she will partner with us in executing the daily academic lesson plans that parents will be creating for the "school" that will exist in our home. Looking for someone, ideally, with a bachelor's degree, Tutoring or teaching experience would be a big plus, but is not required, as long as Nanny takes an active interest in educational development.

About the children:

These siblings are extremely close, almost like twins. They sleep together in the same bed, bathe together, and are almost never apart for more than a few minutes at a time. Both really enjoy art and dancing. After school activities include: Kumon, chess, gymnastics, dance, ice skating, and martial arts (activities are pending for the fall).

The six-year-old is brilliant, inwardly focused, and exceptionally loving. His favorite subjects are science and art. While more introverted than his younger brother, he allows his brother to draw him out. The four-year-old is a little genius who is also charismatic, dynamic, loving, and funny. He is always the center of attention, often taking the lead in games with siblings, but knows to defer to his older brother when it matters. His favorite subject is math.

Discipline structure in the home:

The boys are expected to be respectful and compliant with basic decorum. Parents use a star reward system to encourage responsible behavior and task completion. Parents are not strict about screen time, except that it must be earned. Removal or delay of privileges are the primary consequentialist responses to inappropriate behavior, including disrespect. "Time out" is possible but infrequent.

About the parents:

Family is looking for a candidate who will be comfortable and joyously embrace the multi-racial, multi-ethnic makeup of our family. There are no pets in the home.

Goal of the home:

Parents are looking for a partner in the nurturing and education of their children. They are exceptionally gifted and far ahead of their peers academically. Parents are considering homeschooling for the next few years. Both parents work outside the home (virtually these days of course, but still), so they need a full-time partner for homeschooling to be possible.

Benefits:

Salaried position based on ideal hours of nanny and flexible hours. Paid vacation days, paid sick days, paid time off, and paid holidays are included. Family is willing to provide a vehicle if needed. Room and board.
