More details:

A family in South Orange, NJ is seeking a full-time, live-out nanny/house for their 4-year-old child. The family has two options: 

 

Option 1:  Monday and Friday from 1 pm to 8 pm, and Tuesday through Thursday from 6 am to 8 am AND 2 pm to 8 pm. 

 

Option 2: The family is also open to Monday through Friday from 12 pm to 8 pm. 

 

Additional scheduling: One date night a week is preferred. The family also asks for flexibility when the school is closed (with advance notice), there is a snow day, or the child is ill. 

 

Duties include:

Engaging in age-appropriate, developmental activities. Teaching the child to recognize shapes, colors, and numbers. Assisting with writing and supporting reading development. Transporting the child to and from school, extracurricular activities, and medical appointments as needed. Making appointments for the child. Ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for the child. Administering medication to the child. General care, including preparing meals/snacks and potty training. Occasionally assisting with dinner preparation for the family. Doing laundry for the family, including folding and putting away. Household management duties, including running errands and shopping for groceries. Coordinating packages and deliveries. Returning/shipping packages. Taking out recycling. Coordination household vendors, such as plumber and lawn care. Keeping common areas tidy and assisting with home organization.

 

Ideal nanny:

The ideal nanny for this home is reliable, punctual, and able to take initiative. They must be a solution-oriented problem-solver who is willing to go the extra mile. The nanny should be nurturing but firm. Ideally, the nanny will be someone the child can look to as a trusted member of the family. Ability to swim is preferred. 

 

About the child:

This child is curious, intelligent, humorous, intuitive, and empathetic. He loves planes and can watch them for hours on end. He also loves to travel and explore new places. He has recently experienced a lot of big transitions in his life, from changing schools to watching beloved family members move away. He needs a supportive caregiver who can help him through this period. This child also has asthma and struggles with allergies. 

 

About the parents:

These parents are driven professionals who work demanding jobs. They push each other to be the best versions of themselves and value people who are proactive and solution-oriented. Dad is a bit more relaxed and Mom is more Type A. They try to use positive discipline and have discussions with their child about his behavior. They allow him space to deal with his emotions. They do not allow iPad or TV during the weekday.
